Loudoun County Ashburn Leesburg Sports Photography Classes

Sports Photography Classes

I love sports. I have all my life. When I was growing up I played soccer, volleyball, basketball, and more. My main sport was basketball. I could be found on my driveway whenever I had spare time. I would go to the YMCA and play against the men.  I desperately wanted to play in college but that is a whole different story.

My love of sports fuels my sports photography.  I can be photographing a team for the first time and am an instant fan.  I was recently hired to cover a men’s soccer game at Segra Field. The team was here from Atlanta and in the playoffs for their league. I had never seen them or met them but you can be sure I was cheering for them the entire time.

And now I want to pass on my passion and knowledge to you! Whether you are a parent who has bought “a fancy camera” or a student who is just starting to develop an interest, my lessons will give you the skills needed to improve your photos. I will walk you through how to assess a court or field. I will show you the best locations to capture the best action. And most importantly, what camera settings do you use to capture the action.

I am booking students right now! I can only take one student at a time so reserving a lesson is important.  Please fill out the form below to request more information.

Location, location, location…

I know… you may be stressing out about where to have your portraits taken. That is one of the main issues my clients have when they meet with me. “Where do you suggest? I want x, y, z…”.  But don’t worry… I got you.

One of my favorite things to do is drive around and search out new locations. For my seniors, they so often want those dreamy field locations.  Or they want wildflowers. And my goal is to always provide them with options so that they can make the best decision and love their finished portraits.  I consider it one of the most important aspects of my job.

I work hard to know (or at least find out) mowing cycles of the properties I frequent the most. And guess what… if I haven’t been there in over a month, I’ll go do a site visit even if it is an hour away.  This doesn’t always guarantee a venue won’t make a change the day before a session. Unfortunately, they don’t alert us photographers to these changes.  I sure wish they would though.

For this fall I have two new beautiful locations – Rush Manor and Dodona Manor. Both of these locations are free and offer gardens, walkways, columns, porches, and more! I went with my assistant to take photos at both locations so that clients can see the possibilities.

I am currently booking senior portraits for Fall 2026 and my dates will fill up. If you are interested in booking with me, please do fill out my form and schedule a consultation with me.

Rust Manor
Rust Manor provides a natural setting with beautiful gardens and a beautiful porch with columns.

Dodona Manor
The George C. Marshall offers beautifully manicured grounds, a rose garden, and a house with a porch, door frames, and more.

Sports Photography: Girls Soccer in Loudoun County

One of my favorite things to capture is girls sports. Whether it is soccer, field hockey, gymnastics or even Powderpuff Football, I just love it.  I remember being at a game last spring where boys soccer was playing before the girls.  There were 5 male photographers there. They all left before the girls started playing. I was the only photographer there.  I also think it is important to be a woman covering girls sports. I think it is one reason my photos stand out to the young women who follow me.

Kids who want to be recruited for college should have an Instagram account that showcases them on the field: both videos and photos. As a mom who has had one child who played Division 1 Softball and another who received offers from Division 3 colleges, I know the importance. I am available for hire to capture athletes during a game.  From a client, “It means THE WORLD to me to feel what my daughter is feeling out there on the pitch. You’ve captured the grit, the resilience and the intensity somehow. I’m moved.”  These words meant so much to me as I try so hard to capture the spirit of the player – not only the game itself.  When viewing photos from a game, I want someone to see it unfold without even having been there.

I am also available for Senior Nights – just reach out to me to get on my calendar. I do these free of charge and provide the low-res photos to the teams.  I also have special pricing for high school sports photos.  I can travel throughout the Washington DC area to include Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC.  Want to see more?  Visit my Instagram account.
